Self Initiated, 2024
A short film First Showcased at ‘Nice One at the Yard’. It Explored the idea of an inadvertant globalised ‘togetherness’, and how the internet has shaped our modern lives.
I was influenced by Bentham's Panopticon and Foucault’s adoption for this as a reflection of our modern self surveilling society.
Later tying in themes from Jacques Derrida theory of Hauntology, expanded upon by Mark Fisher; to approach the idea of a self contained society entangled within our own worlds online which we once thought to be more connected than we truly are. This was nodded to from the jump between digital and captured VHS footage from an old 90’s camcorder skewing the perception of time through varied mediums.
